DEPRESSION

As per Ayurveda, Depression is caused due to imbalance in Kapha dosha.It leads to Sadness, heaviness, lack of energy, bad mood and reduced movements.

Rajas and Tamas are 2 manasika(mental) doshas.In depression dosha predominant is Tamas,which shows the characteristics as loss of activity, apathy and ignorance.

  • Panic disorder-panic attack(sweating in excess, chest pain,nausea,fear of dying etc)
  • Agoraphobia-fear of being trapped or where escape is difficult)
  • Generalised anxiety disorder –over worries that may affect day to day activities.

TYPES OF DEPRESSION

  • MajorDepressiveDisorder-characteristic features like fatigue, feeling of useless, concentrating difficulty, thoughts of death and suicide are present.
  • Persistent Depressive disorder-either condition present for more days or at least 2 years. It can be mild, moderate or severe.
  • Bipolar disorder-abnormally raised mood, can cause imbalance in personal life.
  • Postpartum depression-caused due to variation in hormone level, especially in women during pregnancy, following the birth of a child.
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder-mostly symptoms are related to mood such as anxiety, dull mood,irritability,inability to concentrate etc
  • Seasonal affective disorder-if symptoms in particular season subsides in the preceding season, those were the characteristics of S.A.D
  • Atypical depression-not having any typical characteristic of presentation.

ANXIETY IN AYURVEDA

It is actually a physical, emotional and non secular condition of human.
