PALAKKAYAM THATTU

Let’s take a trip to north Malabar’s (Kerala) own Palakkayam Thattu. Palakkayam Thattu is a beautiful lush green location that boasts of its majestic views from all sides. Palakkayam Thattu is located at the elevation of 3500 meters above sea level in the Naduvil grama panchayath, Kannur district. The best slots to visit Palakkayam Thattu are early morning 6 to 7.30 AM & evening post is 5 up to 6.30 PM.  The right time to visit here is June to August when it’s raining heavily there.  The entire operation of the Palakkayam Thattu is under the control of the Kerala tourism department. The road the way to Palakkayam Thattu are very narrow and steep to climb. It is a great experience for the tourists. 

The journey between the forests and the mountains is will be never forgotten. There is two main entrance to enter the Palakyam Thattu. For travelling, Jeep service is available from the valley of the Palakkayam Thattu and the top of the hill.   This would cost Rs.700 per vehicle for a round trip. Jeep to reach the entrance which is roughly 2 km of a very steep drive. Thar or Jeep would also offer you a package worth Rs.2000 which also includes various camping and adventure activities. After the entrance, there is a steep hill to reach the top of the Palakkayam Thattu.  Palakkayam Thattu is not such a busiest destination. A calm and quiet atmosphere gives us that. Owing to its considerable altitude, this hill station is often visited by low-hanging clouds that render the entire atmosphere misty and fresh. At the top, we will be witnessing a picturesque spot, the view from the top is very beautiful and memorizing. We can see all these sights by sitting on the seat set there.   The location is cleanly and beautifully maintained by the authorities. 

It is a place which attracts people by its beauty and climate, most of the evenings you can witness mist-covered mountains and never-ending greenery with little showers. Apart from that, there is a variety of activities available to attract tourists. There is a variety of activities out there including zipline, swimming pool, tent camping etc. also with the separate ticket charge for this. Engaging in such activities and sipping hot tea from a local tea shop was an unforgettable memory for us.

The entire climb up to Palakkayam Thattu is one that is cradled in the serene laps of nature tranquil, and untouched by the worries of the world. Visiting this gorgeous hill station and basking in its remarkable view with your loved ones would be a perfect way to escape the monotony of our fast-paced city lives and indulge in some excitement and enjoyment.
