WHAT IS A MIGRAINE?

Migraine is a complex neurological condition that causes multiple symptoms that really can continue for hours or days.

CONCEPT OF MIGRAINE ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

In Ayurveda migraine can be stated as suryavarta, It is a one-sided headache that is throbbing in nature.

Surya= sun

Avarta= blockage/affliction

Migraine headaches worsen at sunrise, increase sharply at noon and subside in the evening. And these symptoms may vary according to a person’s Prakriti and habits. Due to the causative factors, pitta dosha blocks the flow of vata dosha to the brain and causes a throbbing type of pain. In suryavarta or migraine, the headache will be at its peak as the pitta dosha dominates in the afternoon
