Parassinikadav Muthappan temple is
situated in the memorizing location on
the bank of the Valapattanam river in Kannur district Kerala. The three-storied
structure of the temples is painted in white and is different from Kerala
traditional temples. The principal deity of the temple is Sree Muthappan, a
manifestation of two mythical characters called Thiruvappana and Vellattam. The rituals of the temple are unique. The main mode of worship is the ritual
enactment of both the characters of Muthappan through a traditional dance known
as Muthappan theyyam. The temple provides free meals and accommodation to all
visitors. The devotees are given boiled black beans and tea as Prasadam.
HANDLOOM
CRAFT VISIT, CHIRAKKAL
Chirakkal,
a village in the Kannur district, is famous for its handloom industry. A wide range
of Kaithari (handloom products) including furnishings, made-ups, mats, terry
towels, seer soccer, tucks, and double cloths are being produced here. The
production process is a traditional one using handloom machines and is
eco-friendly. Recently, silk weaving has also been introduced here.

ACADEMY VISIT
A
cultural institute functioning under the State Department of Culture. The
academy was set up in 1996 to impart training in folk arts and to ensure
ongoing efforts in their development, promotion and perpetuation. The academy
envisions its main objectives as the identification and categorization of the
various folk arts of Kerala and ensuring the growth of its reach and influence
on the masses.
ARAKKAL
MUSEUM VISIT
The Arakkal Museum in Kannur city is
one of the most significant and frequently visited attractions of the south
that celebrates the memory and grandeur of Kerala's only Muslim royal family- the
Arakkal Ali Rajas. Previously a majestic palace of the royal family and their
actual place of residence, this museum is a true testimony to impeccable
Muslim architecture and design. The Durbar Hall of this palace, which was once
the official venue of gathering for the kings and their nobles, has now been
converted into the Arakkal Kettu Museum and is managed by the Arakkal Family
Trust.

of the most popular and frequently visited attractions of Kannur and for more
reasons than one. The polished yet prehistoric structure of this fortress with
