Iritty
bridge in Kannur district has rich memories of a culture found in the history
and legends. The first step towards the commercial culture of north Malabar was
the construction of the Iritty bridge. The bridge was built under the
leadership of Earnest Stuart, who was an engineer in the Indian civil service
during the British rule. Even today, the
bridge which was built using the technology of bearing weight on the roof made
of iron layers, is still interesting for tourists. Iritty bridge also plays a role
in the political and cultural growth of north Malabar. It was not just an
exchange of goods between the two states, it was also the closeness between the
two cultures. In 1933, the Iritty bridge was completed and opened to the
public. At that time, only a few places were tarred. The rest was paved road.
There was also a side path for humans to walk. The Iritty bridge was built by
the British to carry goods from kootupuza to them. It is believed that the
timber that was laid across the railway tracks was planted from here and
carried over the bridge. People started coming to Malabar after this bridge was
came. This bridge built between two hills and is 10 meters high and 144 meters
long across the river. Iritty bridge is considered as one of the golden chapters
of Malabar migration. Despite being decades old, the bridge stands tall without
any loss of grandeur.

WATERFALL is a point in a river or stream where water flows over a vertical
drop or a series of steep drops. Waterfalls also occur where meltwater drops
over the edge of a tabular iceberg or ice shelf. Waterfalls can be formed in
several ways, but the most common method of formation is that a river courses
over a top layer of resistant bedrock before falling on to softer rock, which
erodes faster, leading to an increasingly high fall. Waterfalls have been
studied for their impact on species living in and around them.
